Idea from Dawn Colclasure

What Was the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and Why Was it Important?

When the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was signed on February 2, 1848, it put an end to the Mexican War and limited the expansion of the United States. This important day in history allowed Mexican citizens living in US territory to choose to become US citizens. It also officially made Texas a part of the United States. My article about the history of this war and the events leading up to this historic day will shine light on why it is a day remembered every February.
