Over the years, I’ve done a great deal of writing and editing work in-house for the nonprofits for which I’ve worked, and I’ve also taken on a growing number of freelance projects and assignments for newspapers and magazines. Before transitioning to the nonprofit sector, I worked as managing editor for a B2B publishing company and then a boutique PR firm specializing in high-tech startups. Having founded a nonprofit organization and through my work with various new businesses, I have first-hand knowledge of the needs and challenges of fledgling organizations. Through these varied roles, I’ve cultivated a broad-ranging skill set and a unique perspective. With the expertise I’ve gained, I’m able to home in on the most compelling details of a story and weave them together to craft powerful, engaging stories that are on-message and targeted to specific audiences. I also have a great deal of experience counseling C-level executives, boards, and management teams on marketing and public relations planning and best practices for working with the media. I’m familiar with a variety of style guides and can provide proofreading, more in-depth copy editing, and intensive, so-called substantive editing, depending on my clients' needs.
