I have over a decade of experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with 8 years of that within the oil and gas industry. I have extensive focus on Regulatory Compliance and Integrity Management, Pipeline Asset Management, and topical trends in software with extensive knowledge of onshore and offshore pipelines systems, and sustainable transportation systems. I have experience in ArcGIS, QGIS, business development, professional speaking, graphic design and technical writing. She is also a member of Constitution First Amendment Press Association (CFAPA). I enjoy writing on current topics and industry leading technologies for the Oil and Energy sector.
The introduction of QGIS and ESRI MOOC courses that are now available will expand the amount of GIS Users through out the English speaking world. I hope that with access to this knowledge more people become aware of the cause and effect that we have on our environment. As the next generation grows to maturity with these skills and expertise, where will that leave the professional of today?

There have been great strides by the Railroad Commission to improve its reporting and regulatory responsibilities over the last few years such as more search capabilities, the ability to add GPS coordinates into the mapping system, and increased methods for well locating. Commissioner Sitton credits many of his predecessors with these improvements, including Chairman David Porter and Commissioner Christi Craddick. Commissioner Sitton, having a strong background in engineering and technology, discussed his plans to integrate mobile technology solutions to more quickly integrate reporting and access of information from Operators to the public.

ESRI has a new data model that was released in October 2014, the Utility Pipeline Data Model, an “out of the box” data modeling solution for pipeline asset management. This model has been quite a while in the making. ESRI started the process in 2009 and realized they had a lot to learn so started talking to business partners to better understand the needs and gaps in their present systems. After five years in development, the UPDM was released with at least 1,043 unique downloads.
