I trained as a photographer and have undertaken many professional commissions throughout my career, but I moved into publishing soon after graduating and have been a full time professional writer ever since. I've undertaken extensive journalism training over the years to hone my writing, editing and management skills, and I've also had extensive experience at managing budgets and project managing magazine launches and redesigns. I was seconded from Amateur Photographer in 1998 for six months to help oversee the successful relaunch of that title and I was also launch editor of Photography for Beginners at Archant Publishing in 2004. I left Archant in 2006 to become part of the team that set up Bright Publishing, and as Editor in Chief there I oversaw the launch of the publishing house's first two titles, Digital Photo Pro and Digital SLR User. Both were successful and I eventually handed over the reins on Digital SLR User to concentrate on the professional title, now renamed Photo Professional. I was also launch editor of HD SLR Movie Maker, now renamed Pro Movie Maker. Photo Professional is now coming up to its 100th issue and is fully established as a leader in its field. I won the Features Editor of the Year title at IPC Magazines in 1997 for the work I did at Amateur Photographer bringing in the likes of David Bailey and Bob Carlos Clarke as columnists and left the company in 1998 to pursue a freelance career. I founded Terry Hope Ltd, an agency that offered writing, PR and photography skills, and am still running that company, carrying out my editing work as a consultant. I have wide ranging experience in publishing, have authored 14 books and several supplements for the national press on subjects ranging from the Thames Gateway through to the season's new car launches, am self motivated and self reliant, with extensive experience in taking projects from planning stage to fruition, on time and on budget, no matter what the challenges.
