About Me

Briefly, I hold a bachelors in Environmental Studies and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree with a double-emphasis in Urban Planning & Policy Analysis. Although my doctorate in Interdisciplinary (Environmental Health) Engineering is on hold, the first part of my dissertation research, “Incorporating Occupational Risk in Heat Stress Vulnerability Mapping,” was published in the July/August 2014 issue of the Journal of Environmental Health. I am a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional, Neighborhood Development (LEED AP ND), and serve on the U.S. Green Building Council's Market Leadership Advisory Board. I also have a background in IT (former MCSD) and GIS, and have served in several recent roles as energy policy expert. In 2011, I won Planet Ark’s World Environment News Letter to the Editor Competition with my piece on the importance of conserving biodiversity, "The First Rule of Intelligent Tinkering (Is to Save All the Parts)."

World Environment News - Letter to the Editor Competition: Planet Ark asked budding environmental journalists, bloggers or concerned eco citizens to express themselves on an environmental story that moved, angered or inspired them. In the age-old style of 'Letter to the Editor' we wanted people to have their say for the chance to be published and we were not disappointed! The Winner Is ... We had some excellent entries but there can only be one winner. The World Environment News 'Letter to the Editor' competition winner is Kyle Crider, with his entry 'The First Rule of Intelligent Tinkering'. Kyle has won the opportunity to have his story published in the World Environment News and also a $500 donation made in his name to Friends of the Earth, kindly donated by our partner Colonial First State.
