In my opinion a writer is a person who is well read in a number of genres, including ones that he may not be enamored with. For example, if one is well read in literature, philosophy, and history, any form of learning in the area of technology or education, for example, would add to the person's knowledge base and creative ability.
From a very young age I followed General MacArthur's advice: "if you want to be educated, read the most difficult books you can find." Hence I naturally became a creative writer and to date have written three novels, a book of short stories, and several blogs and ad-copy examples to prove my worth as a copywriter.
My education includes a BA in English, an MA in Humanities, and presently I am working on an MA in Education at Auburn, University.
