The huge abandoned buildings with blind broken windows look quite sinister on the Alsatian plains. But it is a monument to a period where thousands of workers extracted prized potassium from the ground. Former miners, passionate about their old workplace, give lots of interesting information about who worked here and how. Impressive enormous machinery, and the history of the working conditions makes you think that we have come a long way from blind horses and naked men in 40C, 600 m underground.
What an experience! In an old foundry in a nondescript area of Paris you can walk around surrounded by enormous projections of the great art of Gustav Klimt, Schiele and Hundertwasser. Walls and floor come vibrantly alive with colour and movement, and the lovely music to go with it - Beethoven and Strauss among others. This type of "art exhibiton" started in Les Beaux the Provence a few years ago, and now the experience has come to Paris. Breathtaking and wonderful, you feel like a child at Xmas
