20+ Years of Writing and Editing Experience

About Me

Although I am new to ndash, I am a seasoned freelance writer and editor. I have been writing for other freelance sites for years, and before that I worked in the Athens State University Writing Center. I have a degree in English, with a focus in fairy tales and mythology, and graduated Summa Cum Laude.

I love fiction, non-fiction, poetry, biography, classical literature, mythology, religion, etc.  I also love to write.  I have won several awards for my writing, and I have won several contests for research papers, essays, poetry, and fiction.  I also have over ten years of tutoring and research writing experience.

I have been editing fiction novels for about fifteen years, research papers and scholarly articles and publications for about nine years, and college and high school level papers for over twenty years. While working in the Writing Center, I edited, proofread, and made general adjustments to  students' papers.

As for my day job, I am an Educational Specialist with a federally funded TRIO program called Upward Bound Math & Science. I work with mainly low-income, first-generation college students to help them achieve their college goals. I provide free tutoring in all levels of math, English, and writing, and I teach free ACT Prep classes in those subjects, as well.

I am also incredibly knowledgeable about various scholarships, grants, and loans available for people who are planning on going to college. I am a licensed preparer for the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Before this, I was an educator at the elementary school level and worked with students in need of special education services.

As for subjects in which I am interested and for which I can write, I have a wide variety.

I am a pop-culture junkie. I am constantly watching television and movies. I watch so many shows, but my favorites are in the genres of horror, superhero, fantasy, and science fiction. I hate reality tv, but "The Masked Singer" is my guilty pleasure. I attend Dragon*Con each year, and I regularly attend other comic/television/pop culture conventions throughout the year, including Walker Stalker Con, ConNooga, Con of Thrones, and others.

I also love music. I listen to a very eclectic mix of musical genres, including but not limited to the following: rock, alternative, blues, blue grass, cabaret, Viking war music, classical, modern instrumental, electronica, pop, rap, and more. I also play the saxophone - primarily tenor, but alto, baritone, and soprano as well. I dabble in several other instruments, as well.

In short, I am knowledgeable about many subjects, but I can write about nearly anything as long as I am allowed to research it first. I hope to be able to write for you in the future!
