nDash Writer Profile for Rachel Elizondo

About Me

I’m a public relations professional living in Georgia with experience in journalistic writing and public relations/marketing content specific to the healthcare industry. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Georgia College & State University with a Bachelors in English: Creative Writing.

During my senior year of college and immediately after graduation, I worked as an audience engagement specialist for the Albany Herald in Albany, Georgia. While there, I covered topics ranging from local government to business and industry to education to crime to arts and culture and much more. As a community journalist, I essentially got a chance to cover any and everything, which I believe will make me a great asset to you and your business as I have experience in many different areas. This style of writing and my background in creative writing lends itself well to writing informative and well researched articles for your website or blog. This position also involved creating content exclusively for our website, so I have experience in creating engaging photo and paging galleries that will help drive traffic to your website. I was also solely in charge of our social media pages as the audience engagement specialist, so I gained invaluable knowledge on social media management, social media marketing, and content creation in this position as well. I would love to use that experience and knowledge to help further your business.

After working at the Albany Herald, I transitioned into a marketing and public relations position with Tift Regional Health System, a medium sized system in South Central Georgia. With this position, I help with event planning and community education on health topics as well as public relations and marketing duties. I frequently write press releases and set up interviews with reporters, and I also help with content for our employee Intranet and our public website. I also share duties of social media management and since taking this position, my supervisor and I have worked tirelessly on effective strategies for social media marketing and utilizing social media for community education. Through trial and error, we have found effective ways of getting our message out that I would like to use to help you and your business.

In addition to the full-time positions I have held at the Albany Herald and Tift Regional, I have also done freelance writing projects for local magazines such as South Georgia Magazine Business + Culture and Southwest Georgia Living Magazine. While still in college, I also worked in restaurant, retail, and banking, and I think this experience would help me to write about those industries specifically as well.

Southwell School Clinics open at two Tift County Schools

This was a joint press release I did with our local school system after we opened two school clinics in partnership with them. This press release was picked up by nearly all of the newspapers in our 12 county service area, and it also prompted two local TV stations to do a story on the clinics.

Seven things to do in Southwest Georgia for Fourth of July

This is a great example of the type of content I created exclusively for the Albany Herald website. This paging gallery or listicle gave viewers a list of all the things happening in their area for a major holiday, and because of the use of photos and short text, it helped drive traffic to the website.

Albany native Anna Bright's story has fairy tale ending

This is another example of a profile I did. This one was on a young woman, originally from Albany, who published her first novel with Harper Collins.

P&G wants recent awards to help strengthen region's economy

This is an article I wrote on the P&G plant in Albany, Georgia, while working for the Albany Herald, after they won the Manufacturer of the Year award at a state banquet, and it shows my experience covering business and industry type topics.

Bringing Nashville sounds to South Georgia

This is an article I wrote for a local magazine in South Georgia as a freelance writer where I profiled a local entrepreneur. This article showcases my more creative side, as it is a profile, but I believe it also shows my ability to cover both business and industry and arts and culture.

Convenient Care vs. ER: What is best for you and your family?

This is an example of some of the healthcare related writing I have done while working for Tift Regional that is geared towards the public. This informative article was the first article I tested out when our digital team was looking at starting a blog.

Portion of 18th Street to close for construction of new tower

This sample is a press release I wrote for Tift Regional regarding a city street closure due to a major construction project happening at our flagship location.

Community Relations Coordinator

In this position, I handle event planning for many community education events, such as lectures with our providers, and promotional events, such as ribbon cuttings and groundbreakings. I also share some of the public relations duties with other people in my department, as I write press releases, help to manage social media, and set up TV interviews. I also create content for our website, which is geared towards the public, as well as content for our employee intranet.

Company: Tift Regional Health System

I worked there from 8/2019 until now
