Astrophysicist with a degree in print journalism

About Me

Despite having a print journalism degree, I do not work in the writing industry. In fact, I am an aerospace engineer.

Writing was my first love (indeed, when I was 12, I used to write about love as if I had a clue). In college I won a writing contest which secured me a full scholarship to Penn State's College of Communications. Here, I double majored in Print Journalism and International Politics. I graduated early and was the youngest person admitted to the George Washington Elliott School of International Affairs. In these combined 5 years of study, I rarely took an actual test, but wrote hundreds of pages every semester. In addition to this, I always kept up my personal writings, though I never attempted to publish them, including an entire novel, just for myself.

After graduate school, I ended up landing my dream job at the FBI, only to be fired three months later for standing my ground against sever sexual harassment from my own mentors and instructors (don't worry, I took them to court). After this, I wanted - needed - a complete change. I decided to go back to school and obtained an Astrophysics degree from Columbia University. I now work as an engineer for Lockheed Martin where I deal far more with numbers than I do with words.

I still write for myself, and my person portfolio continues to grow. But I feel ready to do more with my passion and talents for writing.
