As a writer and a producer, my passion is to find the heart of a story and tell it with clarity and care.
After hearing fragments of history around my childhood home, I spent years researching and writing my award-winning novel, The Hidden Light of Northern Fires. St. Martin's Press published it in 2017.
In 2005, my love for good writing and community spurred me to gather friends and allies to launch the Decatur Book Festival, an annual event that drew 80,000 to a small town outside Atlanta. I led that organization for a dozen years, growing it into one of Atlanta's largest and most important cultural events.
My devotion to telling stories led me to launch multiple public radio series, several of which were syndicated nationally.
I have supplemented my income as a freelance journalist and business-to-business writer through all of these projects.
Over the past year, I've written about cloud computing, IoT innovation in manufacturing and the energy sector, and practical solutions for maintaining our aging power grid, to name a few.
My curiosity makes me want to understand the story a client needs to tell, and my decades of experience as a writer have given me the tools to tell it well.
