My name is Abbey Johnson and I am extremely passionate about skin care, makeup, treating sensitive skin (especially Rosacea) and the gut-skin connection.
My passion in beauty and skincare sparked from my interest in makeup. I was obsessed with watching Youtube videos of how to do my makeup and what products I should be buying. I have always had to be aware of what I am putting on my skin having quite sensitive skin. So when I was diagnosed with Rosacea, my interests switched from makeup to skin care. I became obsessed with understanding what I could do and use to help my skin get back the happy and healthy place it was. This lead me to speaking with specialists, reading books, listening to podcasts and researching anything to do with Rosacea. And can I say - I have learnt so much along the way.
I am in a position now where I have learnt all this information and want to be able to share it. I have expanded my understanding on different products and ingredients, how they work and what is best for your skin type. Recently, coming across information about the skin-gut connection and how healing my gut has transformed my skin presentation. It is hard when there is so much (or not enough) information from people that don’t truly understand the actual effects of what you are going through. It can be lonely. I want to hold your hand through your journey and teach you everything I have learnt to help you.
The first thing my GP prescribed me, when I was diagnosed with Rosacea, was a topical cream and some antibiotics. There was no conversation about what was causing it and how to heal the underlying trigger. Understanding the impact gut health for my skin completely changed the direction of my Rosacea journey and here's why..

We are constantly being told of the positive effects of regular exercise but the thought of being bare faced around others can in some cases cause more stress. So what is the best makeup for Rosacea to go the gym and what are the effects if you do?
When I was diagnosed with Rosacea, I had no idea how much of an impact my mental wellness mattered. There is an obvious connection between the mind and the skin for emotional situations. But, have you thought of how your mental wellness can contribute to the recover of your skin condition?
Coming into winter I find that my skin always goes through a bit of a 'freak out' moment, where it is trying to adjust to the cold and dry air. I find that I need to strip my skin care routine back and use the least amount of active products that I can. This comes back to my motto that 'less is more' in these situation. Giving my skin the right products and allowing it to do the rest, rather than overloading it with hundreds of different products and chemicals.
