Based on previous building strategies and practices, along with the lack of technology, the construction industry has been blamed for ruining the environment one project at a time. This paper aims to dig into an approach to make this paramount industry more sustainable for the future through the addition of new technologies, building materials, and standards.
As a construction field intern, I did a number of jobs including the following: • Installed Gator Sand in between pavers of a 1,500 sq ft outdoor space around a 400 sq ft pool. • Assisted my superintendent with wiring the electrical for the auto-light feature on the customer’s Pentair pool equipment. • Dug the trenches for plumbing and drainage for pools ranging from 600-1200 sq ft. • Grouted the tile around the interior of both the pool and hot tub in projects ranging from 400-800 sq. ft.

As a construction field intern, I did several jobs including the following: • Installed nearly 50 drainage pipes underneath the building for future waterflow. • Installed 300+ feet of silk fencing around the perimeter of the jobsite. • Inspected and learned how to survey the construction site through CAD. • Assisted my superintendent and earth moving specialist with loading rocks and select field dirt with equipment such as a skid steer and backhoe.
